Michael and the entire team at Lympstone Manor are extremely proud to announce that they have been crowned the Best Hotel in the Southwest by Food Magazine. After being named sixth in Harden’s Best UK Restaurants list and retaining their Michelin star for another consecutive year, this award highlights and adds to the numerous successes attained by Lympstone Manor this year.
Michael stated: “I’m a great believer in a saying that I often quote – ‘Everything you have done in the past has brought you to this moment in time, but it’s what you do next that matters most.’”
“I say this knowing all too well that the future is built on your past reputation and achievements. Since Lympstone Manor opened its doors in April 2017, I’ve continued to develop the property, building on the guests’ experience through quality. In 2018 we planted the vineyard, 2019 saw the renovation of the Ponds and the installation of our sculpture tour with Fineart@. In 2020 we harvested our first grapes from the vineyard, built the shepherd huts and tennis court and in 2022 we opened our pool and launched our first wine, the Lympstone Manor Estate 2020 Pinot Noir called Triassic.
Winning Food Magazine’s Best Hotel Award gives me a great sense of achievement with what I’ve created here in my home county of Devon and it’s an honour to be a part of this amazing food culture that we have in the Southwest. The kitchen is the heart of everything we do here at Lympstone Manor Hotel, and head Chef Jordan Denning, the rest of the kitchen team and I work tirelessly in creating our imaginative cuisine that celebrates the best ingredients sourced here in our region.
This award goes beyond the kitchen and celebrates the contribution of all the team; housekeepers, gardeners, accounts, restaurant staff, reception, the reservations team, porters and the management team led by my General Manager Alex McEwen. This award is very much for them as it is for me and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank them for all their hard work and loyalty over these past few years. It’s not been easy, but winning this award makes it feel all the more worth it! Thank you to the readers of Food Magazine for voting. We are honoured and very proud. We push on!”
A huge thank you to everyone who has continued to support Lympstone Manor since its inception and congratulations to all those who won awards in the other categories.
